Dental Implant Institute

A dental implant, often referred to as an endosseous implant or fixture, serves as a prosthetic device that connects with the bone of the jaw or skull. Its primary function is to provide support for various dental prosthetics, including crowns, bridges, dentures, or facial prostheses, and it can also serve as an anchor in orthodontic treatments. The foundation of contemporary dental implants relies on a biological mechanism known as osseointegration, wherein materials like titanium or zirconia establish a close bond with the surrounding bone tissue.

Initially, the implant fixture is strategically positioned to facilitate the osseointegration process, after which a dental prosthetic is affixed. The duration of healing necessary for successful osseointegration can vary, and it is only after this period that the dental prosthetic—be it a tooth, bridge, or denture—can be securely attached to the implant. Alternatively, an abutment may be placed to support the eventual attachment of a dental prosthetic or crown.

The Institute

The primary goals of Dental Implant Institute encompass the advancement and sharing of knowledge pertaining to implant dentistry and its associated disciplines. Our mission is to support dental professionals by promoting education, networking opportunities, discussions, and the exchange of ideas. We are committed to delivering high-quality, comprehensive education in implant dentistry while also facilitating and endorsing innovative research within this domain. Our objective is to establish ourselves as the leading resource for dental professionals worldwide on both current and emerging topics in implant dentistry.

ITI Study Clubs

ITI Study Clubs serve as a platform for sharing the latest advancements in implant dentistry, fostering discussions on clinical inquiries, and facilitating the exchange of expertise in the native language of each country, all within a trusted environment. These clubs convene three to four times annually and are complimentary for ITI Fellows and Members. With over 900 ITI Study Clubs established globally, these meetings are accessible at no cost to ITI Fellows and Members, while non-ITI Members are welcome to attend two meetings free of charge as guests prior to obtaining membership.

Both Fellows and Members have the flexibility to join any Study Club of their preference and can participate in meetings worldwide. If you wish to attend a Study Club meeting for which you are not a member, or if you are not an ITI Member, you will need to submit a request to gain access.

The ITI Curriculum

The Dental Implant Institute Curriculum represents a globally recognized educational framework that has been developed over four decades, grounded in empirical research and pedagogical principles. This program is particularly suitable for recent graduates entering the field of implant dentistry, as well as for established dental practitioners seeking to expand their services to include implant treatments for their patients.

Currently, the program provides two tiers of training in implant dentistry: The Foundation level and the Intermediate level. Participants have the flexibility to enroll in the ITI Curriculum through two distinct methods: online access to the ITI Online Curriculum Foundation Level or in-person attendance at an ITI Curriculum Center, where they can pursue either the Foundation Level or Intermediate Level courses.

The Dental Implant Institute program employs a structured, progressive, multi-tiered learning methodology designed to enhance your expertise in dental implants. The Foundation Level comprises 35 learning modules that equip you with the necessary skills for implant restoration, while the Intermediate Level includes 18 modules focused on preparing you for implant placement. Upon completion, participants will receive a globally recognized ITI Certificate, affirming their proficiency from one of the most esteemed international organizations in dental implants.

The Dental Implant Institute curriculum emphasizes practical experience and clinical application, ensuring that participants are not navigating this journey alone. ITI Fellows are available to provide guidance and support throughout the preclinical and clinical hands-on sessions. During the Intermediate Level, these experienced mentors will assist you in managing your patients’ treatments, fostering a collaborative learning environment that enhances both skill development and confidence in practice.
